Moctezuma’s Restaurants, established in 1978 by Arturo Garcia, continues a family legacy of providing the Pacific Northwest with authentic, quality, and fresh Mexican cuisine. With family recipes passed down through generations, Moctezuma’s prides themselves on serving up only the most flavorful spread– each handcrafted dish and margarita unique and memorable.
THE SETTING
Arturo’s son, Bernie Garcia, has taken the family business under his wing, and through his creative vision, has worked to design the most recent location in Tukwila, WA. Rustic woods and stone adorn each restaurant, beautiful Mexican tiles, and custom blown glass light fixtures completing the authentic vibe. Each of Moctezuma’s locations displays a tortilla station where their renowned homemade tortillas are made as you watch. Moctezuma’s tequila bars, featuring 100% agave tequilas and mezcals, provide popular daily happy hours in a quality, rustic Mexican atmosphere surrounded by glowing fire pits. Each location has their own beautiful open air patio to enjoy on those special warm weather days. With current locations in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, and Southcenter Mall, Moctezuma’s is a favorite Puget Sound Mexican restaurant destination.

HISTORY
Founder Arturo Garcia first opened Moctezuma’s back in 1978 on South Tacoma Way, newly arrived to the United States and filled with a passion for bringing the Mexican food he loved to an American audience. With pride and a burning desire to succeed, he was determined to introduce something bold and new to Washington dining.
Now, more than 40 years later, son Bernie Garcia carries on that same dream and the restaurants the Garcia’s have so proudly established have each become synonymous with quality, flavor and above all, experience. Each dish at Moctezuma’s is distinctly prepared, many from old family recipes, and always with an eye toward freshness and presentation.
